How does lost and found things work at Lostmark?

When you register for free you get a personal "lostmark". All you need to do then is to make sure that you label all your precious items with this code, then it's all up to the finder.

The finder enters www.lostmark.com + your lostmark in a web browser and instantly lands in your anonymous personal report page where he/she enters some facts about what was found and presses sumbit.

How do I get my lost belongings back then?

Well, when the finder clicks on the submit button you will receive an e-mail or SMS (premium service) that tells you about the finding. You simply replies to this e-mail (still anonymous) and asks the finder for some additional information. When all is settled you "step out of the dark" and share contact info with the finder.

What's the point with protected identity?

On the web there are several companies that offers Lost and Found services similar to the classified ads in the newspaper, the problem with these services is that there's no easy way for the finder to actually meet you. If you place your lost ad on one site and the finder puts a found note on another site how will you two ever get in touch?
